In 1997, Sony Pictures Entertainment (SPE) donated funds to Culver City Unified School District (CCUSD) to build a black box theatre inside the Robert Frost Auditorium. The Black Box was rededicated as the Sony Pictures Black Box Theatre in January 2000, in recognition of the long-standing partnership between SPE and CCUSD. Today, after the theatre’s multi-million dollar renovation, this versatile space is used for dance and music rehearsals, technical theatre classes, small scale productions and VIP receptions.
